Issue
Cannot set DNS address on an Edge/Ultra G2.
When setting the primary, or secondary, DNS address on an Edge G2 controller with firmware 6.9.6, the DNS address reverts to 0.0.0.0 after changes are saved. This behavior has been observed in firmware versions 6.9.3, 6.9.5 and 6.9.6.
If connecting to the controller on Ethernet 2 and configuring Ethernet 1, the DNS is saved. However as soon as a network cable is plugged into Ether 1 the DNS reverts to 0.0.0.0.
Workaround
Follow these steps sequentially:
- Change other IP attributes and DNS addresses.
- Reset NIC interface: after change being saved, unplug cable few seconds, then plug the cable back. If change is not applied, repeat unplug/plug cable.
- Reboot the panel.
Permanent Fix
Code change to reset NIC if DNS addresses are changed. This fix will be added in firmware 6.9.7.
